Securian Canada sponsors The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation cricket fundraiser

TORONTO, May 22, 2026 – Securian Canada, a leading insurance provider of innovative and life-ready insurance solutions in Canada, is proud to announce its sponsorship of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation’s (PMCF) 2026 cricket event, Canada’s largest cricket fundraiser in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Canada’s leading cancer research and treatment centre.

Bringing together communities, organizations and leaders from across the country for its second annual cricket fundraiser, The PMCF continues to grow the initiative as a platform to accelerate breakthroughs in cancer research while celebrating the unifying spirit of one of Canada’s fastest-growing sports.

As the exclusive ambassador sponsor, Securian Canada is supporting both the event and the ambassador program – a platform that incentivizes donations and recognizes top individual fundraisers, helping raise awareness of The PMCF’s mission to create a world free from the fear of cancer.

“Sport has a unique ability to unite people for a common goal. At Securian Canada, we are proud to support The PMCF Cricket event as part of our commitment to helping people navigate life’s uncertainties and build secure tomorrows,” said Nigel Branker, Chief Executive Officer, Securian Canada and honorary co-chair for the PMCF cricket event. “At a time when cancer is affecting more lives than ever, this event is a meaningful way to join the efforts of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in creating hope and advancing research and care.”

With an estimated 77 per cent rise in new cancer cases globally by 2050, including an alarming projected increase among millennials, The PMCF Cricket event will help thousands of clinicians, scientists and doctors discover the next breakthroughs in cancer research, treatment and care.

“Securian Canada’s leadership as an ambassador sponsor plays an important role in advancing the impact of this year’s cricket event,” said Steve Merker, Vice-President, Corporate and Community Partnerships, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. “Their commitment to making a difference in the face of life’s uncertainties is helping us move forward in our mission to create a world free from the fear of cancer.”

Set to take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the event will welcome teams of cricketers from diverse backgrounds for a day of friendly competition, community spirit and purpose-driven fundraising.
